Songfest 2010
Our little performer sang his heart out on Friday at his school wide songfest. Typically there is a May Day celebration, but due to Furlough Fridays this school year, they opted out and devoted a Friday (anyone see humor in that?) to the final quarter awards assembly...and SONGFEST. I do hope, however, they will continue the tradition (of Songfest that is...) The kids LOVED it and so did us parents. It is scheduled to be on local television in mid-June so we can relive the sensational first grade performance of Jack Johnson's "Upside Down". Now there will be an alternative to the video I posted (and was then removed) from YouTube. Copyright, schmopyright. Gabe practiced for his singing debut, over and over. He had the words memorized and the hand motions down. He was very proud. As a treat for his successful performance (no weird voices used, no running around when the other kids were lining up, no giving "the finger" to the audience), I took him to see "Shrek Forever After". Good thing we were rewarding him and not me. This movie was not funny or even mildly entertaining. It really was a case of the only amusing parts were in the trailer. You may have noticed that I go to the movies a lot. When you go to the movies frequently (every week), then the average increases that your movie going experience will be...crappy. Friday didn't disappoint. Not only was I stuck watching a bad sequel, our fellow audience was...crappy. Snoring dad two seats over. Crying baby directly behind. Crying baby who was actually capable of talking, since she repeatedly asked for her mother's boobie for two straight hours. I wish I could master selective hearing the way Gabe has.
