WOODn't Be Christmas

...without some Griswold home improvements around here. Over the course of the eight years that we have lived in our current home, we have replaced the 70's shag carpet with wood flooring, tiled the bathrooms, replaced termite ridden walls with new beams and drywall, taken out concrete slabs in the backyard, installed new appliances and ceiling fans, painted, re-painted, added moldings, doors, and most recently wainscoting...even built new stairs from scratch. All amidst raising these two boys, traveling, excessive TV watching, reading, baking, beaching, living. This weekend, yep, the weekend before Christmas, finds us deep into one more renovation project I like to call bye bye linoleum. Finally, I won't have to mop 40 years of grime anymore! We can walk through our new front door and stand in a kitchen with wood beneath our feet. Merry Christmas to us. Woodn't you like to be a Majors too?

Holiday Shennanigans

We've been decking the halls, embibing spirits, eggnogging, baking, Christmas card planning, snapping photos, and fa la la la la-ing our way to December. And now that December has arrived, more of the same holiday shenanigans will continue. Last night for example, Isom and I enjoyed a kid free evening of food, drink, and entertainment at his work Christmas party. Somehow we were the only couple in our group that didn't win a prize, but we somehow managed to keep smiles on our faces...peach margarita could have something to do with it. Our annual holiday greeting card, Christmas party, visit with Santa, and Christmas Parade can now be checked off the list. Today we choose our version of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree, trim it, bake cookies, and watch "A Christmas Story". Keeping the traditions of decorating and gluttony alive this holiday season. Looking forward to next weekend..."Christmas Vacation" on a repetitive loop, more cookie baking, and hot coco in
