Eddie Vedder at Hawaii Theater

Eddie Vedder. Hawaii Theater. Free Corona. Late Night. Locked Out. Last night was my fourth time seeing Eddie Vedder (lead singer for Pearl Jam www.pearljam.com) in concert here in Hawaii. As always it was a memorable experience. My partner in crime for his shows, as well as many other concerts, is Sarah. From the beginning it was an ordeal to get tickets to the last show of his current concert tour. From difficulties with Ticketmaster (surprise, surprise), to closed ticket kiosks we thought we might actually miss out this year. In the end we got our tickets and were pumped for a new venue. I knew the night was off to a good start when while waiting to pick up our tickets at will call, a cab pulled up with a load of middle aged drunkards--one of whom fell out and into the street upon exiting the cab (no judging here I promise!). Drinks at Du Vin (www.brasserrieduvin.com) followed and then we were inside the maze of frat boys, surfer dudes, and 90's high school grads. It was indeed an interesting mix. Highlights of the evenings play list included covers of Tom Petty , The Beatles (You've Got to Hide Your Love Away), Elvis (Can't Help Falling In Love), and of course a finale of Bruddah Iz (Hawaii 78). After the concert we discovered the parking garage we parked in had closed for the evening so we were left to wander...and wander we did---backstage. After an hour in the dank depths of Hawaii Theater we decided to explore further and discovered Eddie Vedder's dressing room. Although we did not get to speak to him in person, we did shake hands with and meet his wife Jill. We were speechless as our long time idol was mere inches away from us. It was a good day.
