I saw each of these movies recently. First "Percy Jackson"---which explains why I am now reading the book. Then "When In Rome" ---in lieu of book club, thanks Tsunami. And yesterday "The Hurt Locker"---because I heard it was
so good and I really needed to see something good after the disaster called "When in Rome". And now a few lines on each.
PJ: Great movie. However, I did not feel it was appropriate for my six year old. Snakes for hair on
Uma Thurma playing Medusa...not what I want as the last image in Gabe's head before resting his head on the pillow. And I'm not sure what was more disturbing...the snakes or
Uma.
WIR: This is why guys don't like going to movies with girls. They are worried they may have to suffer through a "chick flick". This was a dumbed down, poorly scripted, edited, and casted chick flick which made it the worst movie I've seen this year...possibly in a couple years. Don't go see it.
Please don't endorse this crap. Josh
Duhamel is a bad actor. The first three letters of his last name say it all: DUH. I don't think I can be convinced otherwise. Some actors use method acting. Some actors use improvisation. J D uses weird facial, lip movements. It is about as disturbing as
Uma and the snake hair.
THL: Now we are getting somewhere. As I have already seen the worst movie of the year, I'm happy to report that I have also seen the best movie of the year. "The Hurt Locker" was the opposite of its title. For two hours and eleven minutes I was wrapped up, absorbed in the world created by a new favorite director. It was focused. It was well thought out. It was acting and directing harmonizing into one amazing story of America, soldiers, Iraq, and risk. Low on time? Choose this movie to see. Low on cash? Choose this movie to see. Low on American pride? It will be restored with this movie. What else has Kathryn
Bigelow directed? I need to see more of her movies.
